ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Having danced professionally for 20 years i used to wonder what was i trying to communicate with these forms.   What did an arabesque mean?   My art work is about movement, dynamic movement.   It is also simply about the act of drawing.  Underdrawings, construction lines, smudges, can all add an atmosphere to a drawing that communicates a certain human quality to the picture.   I like to see the brushstrokes or marks made.  Few of us are completely immaculate.

I am trying to express some of the turmoil,  activity,  various energies that humans are comprised of.  The interesting shapes and simple beauty of the human body. The work is mostly a result of my passion, my desire to create, and in a sense is as much about who i am as about what i am drawing.

The beauty of nature and people speak for themselves.  They are simply a delight to photograph.                                                        terry
